The Basics of Real Estate Investing
In the last few years many people have become real estate investors. Few are successful and most fail, even in a booming market. Why? Lack of knowledge and discipline. Those are two key ingredients needed if you want to become a successful real estate investor. As with anything worth while in life, real estate investing is not easy. Going into real estate investing hoping to get rich will not work. You need the tools and skills as well as some luck. Here are the basics:
1. Know the area you are investing in. Know everything about it, population, economics, social makeup, street names, current cycle…everything.
2. Don’t invest in an area you know nothing about. You’ll loose money.
3. Know inside and out the laws of the state you are investing in and how property is taxed.
4. Set up a corporation to protect yourself and your assets.
5. Hire a really good team: Attorney, CPA, Real Estate Agent and Mortgage Consultant.
These are the basics. The more knowledge you have the better off you will be.
