Pleasanton is a city in Alameda County, California. The city is located 25 miles south-east of Oakland and was incorporated in 1894. It has a population of around 71,000. Pleasanton, California is considered to be the wealthiest middle-sized city in the United States with this city covering 24.3 square miles with only .2 miles being water.

Pleasanton’s main economy is largely based on the corporations that have made their headquarters in Pleasanton. Corporations such as Safeway, Workday, Ellie Mae, Roche Molecular, Veeva Systems and many more.

Downtown Pleasanton:

The downtown area of Pleasanton is quite interesting since this area is made up of several styles of 19th-century buildings including Gothic Revival, Pioneer, Italianate, Colonial Revival, and Queen Anne. The city maintains some regular community events such as their Farmer’s Market and Friday night free concerts during the summer months. There are also a lot of good restaurants and shops.

Local Parks:

Pleasanton has 44 community and neighborhood parks and over 24 miles of trails that covers over 600 acres of open space. The parks in the city are divided into two types of Community Parks and Neighborhood Parks.

Community Parks are intended for community-wide use and features a variety of amenities. These parks run anywhere from 1/3 acre to 104 acres. There are 2 community parks that have something special to offer. Augustin Bernal Park which is a 237-acre natural park. And the Alviso Adobe Community Park is dedicated and shows the history of the Amador Valley.

The neighborhood parks serve the neighborhoods they are in, but are open to the public. These parks tend to have limited amenities.

Pleasanton, California Neighborhoods:

Pleasanton has several nice neighborhoods and here is a brief look at some of those neighborhoods.

  • Amador Estates: Amador Estates offers residents a dense urban feel where most residents own their own homes. This neighborhood has a lot of ranch-style homes and well-kept streets. Homes here are relatively affordable with nice lawns, backyards, and sidewalks that kids bike on. This neighborhood also has some good restaurants nearby.
  • Amberwood/Meadowoods: The Amberwood/Meadowoods neighborhood is a small neighborhood that a mixed urban/ suburban feel. Most of the residents own their own homes, but there is a bike trail close by. The neighborhood is made up of mostly contemporary homes with nice quiet streets. There are some streets that have a few palm or willow trees.
  • Bode Ranch: Bode Ranch is located on a hilly edge of the city. It’s a small neighborhood made up of only about ½ dozen streets. All of the streets are well kept and you see most of the neighbors out and about on the weekends taking walks, going fishing or simply enjoying their gardens or pools. Since this neighborhood sits in a more rural area, you can see some wildlife munching on some of the flowers and vegetables in the gardens.

Pleasanton is a beautiful place to live for anyone who wants to live in a city with a friendly feel.

The city is very family-oriented and life here is slower-paced than you see in larger cities. It is a community that values education. Pleasanton has two comprehensive high schools, several elementary schools, and three middle schools.
