Redwood City, CA is located in northern California.
Redwood City is located in the San Francisco Bay area in the heart of the Silicone Valley, just 27 miles from San Francisco itself. It is the third-largest city in San Mateo County and is home to more than 85,000 residents. The city was incorporated in 1867 and once was the county seat of Mateo County.
Not only is Redwood City the home to several global companies such as Oracle, Electronic Art, Evernote, Box and several more; the Port of Redwood City is the only deep-water port on San Francisco Bay.
Its downtown area is also known as the entertainment hub of the San Francisco Peninsula with a number of retail options, as well as providing a fun and unique restaurant and entertainment experience.
Redwood City Neighborhoods:
Rosewood City is an interesting mix of neighborhoods ranging from some older neighborhoods with small homes to some neighborhoods with large yards and homes. Many of the neighborhoods in this city are somewhat of a mixture of new and old and retail and housing. Here is a look at a few of the neighborhoods in this city.
- Redwood Oaks: The Redwood Oaks neighborhood of Redwood City is a strong and vibrant community that seems to continue to grow each year. The neighborhood is a real mix of retail stores and housing. When it comes to housing you pretty much get a mixed bag. There are one or two senior living centers; small older square shaped apartment buildings as we4ll as some luxury apartment buildings and even some single-family homes. The neighborhood does sport two neighborhood parks including one more traditional family parks with a playground and other amenities and the other park is pretty much green space with a bench to sit and rest and a lovely butterfly garden.
- Edgewood Park: Edgewood Park is a smaller neighborhood in the city and is located in the more upscale part of town. The homes in this neighborhood sit on larger parcels of land many on an acre or more. Many of the homes are extremely large and nice and they sit back from the street with beautiful landscaping. There are also some nice apartment buildings in the neighborhood and there is one park, but the park is basically just a green area with a bench or two. There is no playground or picnic area.
- Centennial Neighborhood: The Centennial Neighborhood is made up of single ranch style homes with single garages. This part of the neighborhood has wide tree-lined streets. There are also some apartment buildings and condos in the neighborhood and part of the neighborhood is made up of the Mezesville Historic district, which has some beautiful historical homes.
Redwood City has its own elementary and middle school, but their high school students are part of the Sequoia Union High School District. The Orion elementary school is located in this neighborhood as is Mezes Park (Also known as Tank Park). The park has a tank that children can climb on, a Playground, a couple of tennis courts, half of a basketball court, picnic tables and restrooms.
